District Joint Collector Mallikarjuna, informed that the government has modernised the primary health centres (PHCs) in the district to render the best medical care at these PHCs under the tag of ‘Mukhya Mantri Aarogya Kendram’ (MMAK). 

Kakinada: District Joint Collector Mallikarjuna, informed that the government has modernised the primary health centres (PHCs) in the district to render the best medical care at these PHCs under the tag of ‘Mukhya Mantri Aarogya Kendram’ (MMAK).

He participated as chief guest in the second phase of Pulse Polio immunisation programme at the Mutta Nagar Health Centre (MMAK) and inspected the services available to the poor in the centre. In this connection, the JC asked the doctors on the type of medical services available to the poor through the telemedicine at these centres.

The JC was informed that specialist medical supervision would be available through telemedicine in orthopedics, cardiology, endocrinology, general medicine and diabetes in this centre.

The JC ordered the doctors that they should give the medicines to the pregnant women after establishing the scanning equipment in the centre. The PHC staff informed the JC that they were rendering medical services to 20 persons a day through the telemedicine. The JC explained that 21 Mukhya Mantri Aarogya Kendralu were established in the district.

He also said that they have established eight centres in Rajahmundry, Seven in Kakinada, two in Samalkot and one each at Pithapuram, Tuni, Amalapuram and Mandapeta in the district.

The JC specified that 29 types of lab tests would be available in these centres. DM and HO Dr Chenchayya, Immunization Officer Dr Mallik and others accompanied the JC.
