Tapasvi Cultural Arts organised a three-day State-level playlet competition with the assistance of Department of Language and Culture, Government of Andhra Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh State Film, TV and Theatre Development Corporation and Sri Durga Malleswara Ganesh Seva Samithi at Ghantasala Venkateswara Rao Government Music and Dance College from Friday to Sunday.
Vijayawada: Tapasvi Cultural Arts organised a three-day State-level playlet competition with the assistance of Department of Language and Culture, Government of Andhra Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh State Film, TV and Theatre Development Corporation and Sri Durga Malleswara Ganesh Seva Samithi at Ghantasala Venkateswara Rao Government Music and Dance College from Friday to Sunday.
The competitions were conducted in the name of NTR Nataka Kala Parishad consecutively for the last three years. A total number of six playlets were staged during the three days and all the plays highlighted different social problems.
The competitions commenced with the playlet ‘Badhyata’ by Jyothirmayi, Vijayawada. This was written and directed by Dr P Brahmananda Rao. The playlet depicts the present trend of missing relations and also ill-treatment by son and daughter-in law towards his father. B Sampat who acted as Vamsi (child) was awarded special jury prize.
The second play of the first day was staged by Sneha Arts, Vinjanampadu titled ‘Bhoomi Dukham’. BVR Sarma adopted the basic story of Ramachandramowli for staging and Yepuri Haribabu directed this play. This play bagged the second best production, best actress, best villain and best comedian awards.
The first playlet of the second day ‘Pacha Chendurudu’ was showcased by Gangotri, Pedakakani. This was penned by Dr Bokka Srinivasa Rao and directed by Naidu Gopi, who also participated as the lead role in this play. Naidu Gopi was adjudged as best actor in the competitions.
‘Bhethala Prasna’ portrayed by Young Theatre Organisation, Vijayawada and the script provided by Kancharla Suryaprakasa Rao and directed by R Vasu. The judges pronounced awards for best music (SP Sitaram) and best makeup (P Mohaneswara Rao) for this playlet.
The concluding day began with the show ‘Kottaneeru’ was presented by Sai Raghava Movie Makers, Guntur. Vidyadhar Munipalle was the script writer and also director of the playlet. Vemula Mohan Rao awarded best character actor for the performance of Viswanatham and this playlet secured best script award too.
The last drama “Madhuparkalu” was staged by Aravida Arts, Tadepalli. This was written by Valluru Siva Prasad and directed by Gangotri Sayi. This playlet secured best production award and best direction and best set prizes as well. Three theatre experts namely HVRS Prasad, MS Chowdery and M Sanjeevi were felicitated by the organisers during the three days drama competitions. Prasad Hemadri and T Madhu Kumar acted as jury member for the playlet competitions.
The AP Police Housing Board chairman Nagul Meera, Buddha Venkanna, Member of AP Legislative Council, S Narasaraju, President, Sumadhura Kala Niketan, K Subba Raju, former MLA, G Radha Krishna Murthy, Ambati Madhu Mohana Krishna participated as gusts for this parishad. Koganti Satyanarayana, Nandivada Nani, Suryadevara Jagannadha Rao, Bayana Srinivas and others were present.
