Bridge on salt creek hampers revival of Buckingham Canal

Kakinada: Kakinada Rural and Urban Kapu JAC convener J Nagenda Kumar alleged that realtors play a major role in the construction of bridge on salt creek at Medaline near Indrapalem Locks here. This constriction would hamper the revival of Buckingham Canal for water transport needs from Kakinada to Chennai, he said.

In a press release issued here on Friday, he alleged that out of 1,250 acres of land in Medaline, the government lands account for 300 acres. The remaining 950 acres belonged to small and marginal farmers.

He alleged that the realtors had been trying to grab this government land worth Rs 300 crore as the place was adjacent to Kakinada city.The Kapu JAC leader demanded appropriate action on this unauthorized activity by authorities and save the government land from the realtors.
