Union Minister Balram Naik, PCC chief join galaxy of leaders to pay rich tributes to the social reformer Hyderabad: The 186th birth anniversary of social reformer Jyothi Rao Phule was observed by different organisations at different places in the city on Thursday. Rich tributes were paid to him and his services for the society were lauded on the occasion. Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy paid homage to him at a function organised at Jubilee hall. He garlanded Phule's portrait and recalled the services rendered by him. PCC chief Botcha Satyanarayana attended a programme held at Gandhi Bhavan on Thursday and offered floral tributes to the noted social reformer on the occasion. He recalled the services rendered by him and said that Phule was noted for championing the cause of backward classes, women empowerment and encouraged widow marriages. Present day generation and political leaders should follow Phule's ideals, he said. Union Minister Balram Naik, MLC Mohammed Shabbir Ali and other leaders also attended the programme.
