Sharmila replicates YSR's feat

Hyderabad: In an interesting coincidence, YSRCP leader Sharmila's padayatra - 'Maro Praja Prasthanam' on Saturday reached Sattupally town of Khammam district, which had hosted the historic 'Praja Prasthanam' - padayatra of former chief minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy on the same day a decade ago. On this day ten years ago, YSR's 'Praja Prasthanam' reached the Sattupally town where YSR addressed a huge public meeting at the bus stand ring centre. In a repeat of the history, Sharmila will also address a public meeting at the same grounds. Sharmila is scheduled to rest for the night at Tallamada outskirts after addressing the public meeting as her father YSR also stayed in the same village after addressing the public meeting.

Following her father's footsteps, Sharmila's padayatra will enter into the West Godavari district the very next day (Sunday) after winding up Khammam tour, similar to YSR's. Sharmila, who launched her padayatra from Idupulapaya on October 18, has completed 1100 km padayatra in 143 days so far. She visited Kadapa, Kurnool , Anantapur, Mahbubnagar, Ranga Reddy, Nalgonda and Khammam districts. Party senior leaders said Sharmila will continue her padayatra and cover all the coastal Andhra districts Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram and Srikakulam. She is scheduled to walk 3000 km covering all the 23 districts. She was planning to wind up her yatra at Ichapuram in Srikakulam district where YSR had completed his padayatra in 2003.
