Vijayamma seeks national status for Pranahita-Chevella project

Honorary president of YSR Congress party Y S Vijayamma, MLA, on Tuesday demanded national status for the Pranahita-Chevella Sujala Sravanti project.A Addressing a public meeting here, she alleged that the State government was adapting a negligent attitude towards the 'Jalayagnam' irrigation projects taken up by her late husband and former chief minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy.

She assured the gathering that party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy would complete the project after becoming chief minister. Once completed, it would solve the shortage of irrigation water for Telangana. Earlier, she visited the project performed 'palabhishekam' of the pylon erected by YSR, performed pooja and planted a sapling.

Vijayamma alleged that input subsidy was being denied to farmers and wondered as to why it was being neglected. She claimed that injustice was being done to dalits, in spite the government's tall talk of implementing the SC/ST sub-plan. She described the 'Amma Hastam' scheme as 'maya hastam'. The YSRCP leader demanded the government to come out with the list of beneficiaries of Rajiv 'Yuvakiranalu', while disputing the claims of offering jobs to 15 lakh youngsters. She called upon the party activists to work like soldiers. Addressing the party men at the project she has given a slogan 'Pranahita-Chevella nirmiddam, Telangana sasyashyalam cheddam'.

Vijayamma accused the government of giving a quiet burial to the project launched by YSR. A She accused Chief Minister Kiran Reddy of depriving water to Telangana, while recalling that YSR's mention of the people's water woes and promise of solving them.
