Antony panel hearing begins today
A K Antony committee - The political scenario in New Delhi will hot up on Tuesday as large number of ministers, MLAs and MLCs from Seemandhra region are heading towards the national capital to meet the high-power A K Antony committee which has been constituted to look into the grievances of the Seemandhra leaders on the issue of bifurcation of the state.
Seemandhra leaders flock to Delhi
Hyderabad : The political scenario in New Delhi will hot up on Tuesday as large number of ministers, MLAs and MLCs from Seemandhra region are heading towards the national capital to meet the high-power A K Antony committee which has been constituted to look into the grievances of the Seemandhra leaders on the issue of bifurcation of the state.
Nine union ministers from the region and MPs from Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha will also join them. These leaders will first meet at the house of Lok Sabha MP Lagadapati Rajagopal before staging a dharna at Jantar Mantar. Then Seemandhra leaders from the state will go in a group and meet the Antony committee to make a detailed presentation on the present situation in the state and the ongoing unrest in the Seemandhra region which broke out after the July 30 decision of the Congress Working Committee to take the process of bifurcation of the state forward. They will plead with the committee to keep the state united.
However, minister for rural development Dokka Manikya Vara Prasad said that he would not participate in the dharna at Jantar Mantar. “As a minister I am not supposed to be part of such agitations. I will meet the Antony committee members to represent the people of my region. I am a loyalist of the CM and the party and would abide by the decision of the party on the issue of bifurcation of the state,” he told the media here on Monday.
Among those who are going to New Delhi are Kondru Murali, S Sailajanath, P Balaraju, C Ramachandraiah, T G Venkatesh, and leaders like J C Diwakar Reddy, N Raghuveera Reddy and M Maheedhar Reddy.
