We are Prepared for Any Eventuality: DGP, Post-Bifurcation, Andhra-Odisha Border. Director General of Police (DGP) B Prasada Rao said that the police department was fully geared up to meet any eventuality that could arise post-bifurcation.
Director General of Police (DGP) B Prasada Rao said that the police department was fully geared up to meet any eventuality that could arise post-bifurcation.
In an informal interaction with media here on Wednesday, Rao said that Maoists have been making attempts to enter State from Chhattisgarh and Andhra-Odisha Border (AOB). The police, he said, have been tackling the left-wing extremism for the last few years. “We are well prepared for any eventuality,” he remarked.
This assumes significance in the event of the State’s bifurcation. He claimed that as the top cadre of Naxalism was mostly from north Telangana, a special focus had been kept on the movements of extremists in the State.
He claimed to have discussed with the Task Force, headed by Vijay Kumar, about strengthening of the security measures that need to be taken during sensitive situations. He said that steps that need to be taken to handle any untoward incidents which may arise post-bifurcation were also highlighted during the TSF meeting.
Stating that the majority of road accidents were taking place due to the negligence of the drivers, he said that speed limit would be imposed, besides carrying out inspections of buses at regular intervals at check-posts on highways. Commenting on the measures taken for curbing violence on women, he said that awareness programmes were being conducted in every company in the IT hub.
Similarly, police suggested members of Cyberabad Security Council (CSC) to set up a control room to monitor movement of cabs. Managements of shopping malls should take the responsibility to drop customers by maintaining a list of taxis, he stated.
