Chief Secretary P K Mohanty on Friday congratulated Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) for successfully launching the PSLV- C 25 and putting the 1,350 kg Mars Orbiter into the earth-bound orbit.
In a letter to the ISRO Chairman Dr K Radhakrishnan , he said, “the launching of India’s dedicated Mars Orbiter is a milestone in the country’s prestigious space programme. The achievement by ISRO team has given the people of Andhra Pradesh immense satisfaction and great honour. We are also fortunate that the entire activities of the ISRO are concentrated in SHAR, the Sriharikota Range, in the State.”
The Chief Secretary recalled the valuable contribution of ISRO which helped the State in a big way to forecast cyclones as recently as the ‘Phailin.’ INSAT had beamed the pictures of the approaching cyclone and enabled the State to take all precautionary steps to prevent casualty and to reduce property loss. He also said that “the benefits of scientific advances such as Mars Mission are beyond one’s imagination. It will be immensely useful to the entire humankind.”
Mohanty praises Yojana magazine
Chief Secretary PK Mohanty said that the Yojana (Telugu), a monthly journal being published by Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, is very useful for officials and those involved in public services to know about the policies and objectives of the Central and the State governments. Releasing the November issue of the magazine, which completed 40 years, at his chambers at the Secretariat on Friday, Mohanty said the journal was publishing authentic data, facts and figures useful for officials. It could be used as a reference book by the officials to keep track of certain policies and schemes.
Saying that the journal was contributing to transparency in the government policies, he said that it would be very useful for civil services aspirants. The November issue focuses on ‘Land and natural resources’ with in-depth articles.
