Govt to Spend Rs500 cr for Construction of Mini-Stadia, Mini-stadium at Every Assembly. Lav Agarwal said that several people during their middle age and old age suffer from health problems and if they spend an hour daily in outdoor sports it would be as good as the fitness exercises to stay fit.
State government is envisaging a plan to construct a mini-stadium at every Assembly segment at the cost of Rs 2.10 crore each, wherever there is difficulty in procuring a land of 5 acres, then an indoor stadium at the cost of Rs 60 lakh would be constructed, announced Lav Agarwal, Secretary to Government in the departments of Youth Advancement, Tourism and Culture. He said that government is allotting a fund of Rs 500 crore for this purpose.
He said that government aims to promote the sports activity in rural areas in a big way and proposal to have constituency-wise stadium would further give boost the rural sports.
He addressed the gathering after inaugurating the 4-day Central Zone Inter University Handball tournament 2013-14 for men and women at KU grounds in Hanamkonda on Friday.

He appreciated KU VC Prof B Venkat Rathnam as he himself was University sportsman during his PG course here. Listing out the achievements of Gagan Narang, Saina Nehwal, Sania Mirza or Vishwanathan Anand, he asked them all to help promote sports and games.
Another guest on the occasion, AP NPDCL CMD Karthikeya Mishra who preferred to address the gathering in Hindi was cheered by the participants as most of them hailed from Chhattisgarh, MP, Maharashtra and Orissa. Connecting well with them, he said that sports would bring discipline and character in one’s own personality.
Welcoming on behalf of host city, he said that Warangal is the cultural capital of AP. He asked them to visit the historic places like Warangal Fort and temples and take back good memories. He said that the city is a perfect host to the guests from any part of India or abroad.
Later, he saluted Sachin on his retirement.
Speaking on the occasion, KU VC Prof Venkat Rathnam advised sportspersons to focus on the academics too in order to be successful in their careers in the later part of their life.
