  • High Command asks him to identify and initiate action
  • Zero tolerance against those criticising Sonia: PCC chief

Party leaders feel Botcha’s warning is aimed at senior leaders like J C Diwakar Reddy, N Tulasi Reddy and others who have been making certain remarks against party president over the bifurcation move

The Congress high command has decided to set its house in order in the State ahead of sending the draft T Bill to the Assembly. The party has decided to take action against all those who have launched tirade against the party and the party President Sonia Gandhi for taking a decision to bifurcate the state.

According to PCC president Botcha Satyanarayana, the high command has asked him to identify all those who are fence-sitters in the party and initiate disciplinary action against them.

In an informal chat with media on Tuesday, Botcha said he had prepared a list of all the fence-sitters and most of them were from the Seemandhra region. The party will first take action against those who are at the level of District Congress Committee level. He is understood to have identified about 5- 6 districts where Congress leaders had decided to quit the party.

He said the party which had been lenient with such people for past five months ever since the Congress Working Committee took a decision to divide the state, has now decided to crack the whip. “It will not tolerate betrayal of trust anymore,” he said.

The party leaders can react as per the aspirations of people and can even oppose the decision to divide the State. But no one, howsoever big one may be, should criticise either the party or AICC president Sonia Gandhi. No leader should cross this Laxman Rekha, he warned.

Party leaders feel that this statement of Botcha amounts to a warning to senior leaders like J C Diwakar Reddy, N Tulasi Reddy and others who have been making certain remarks against the party president opposing the bifurcation of the state.

Though Ministers like Erasu Pratap Reddy and Ganta Srinivasa Rao, S Sailajanath etc have been opposing the move to divide the state, they have not criticised Sonia Gandhi and hence the PCC does not propose to take any action against such people.
