Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers laid siege to the Collectorate here on Wednesday demanding immediate relief to the farmers whose crops were damaged due to recent cyclone. When the BJP workers tried to forcefully enter the Collectorate, there was pushing and jostling between the party workers and police. The BJP leaders entered in to a wordy duel with the police. In the melee, several workers were injured. The police shifted the leaders in a van. Some workers staged a rasta roko protesting against the detention of their leaders.

The police chased them away. Speaking to the media, BJP State vice-president Chinta Samba Murthy demanded that the government should waive all the farm loans and issue fresh loans. He said the government which claimed it was profarmer, was not helping the farmers. District BJP president V Chandrasekhar, State secretary K Venkateswarulu, vice-president Sambaiah, Kisan Morcha State president G Madhusudan Reddy and others participated.
