Visakhapatnam: 98th death anniversary of Gurajada celebrated

The 98th death anniversary of Gurajada Appa Rao, a renowned writer of Telugu was conducted on Sunday in the city of destiny, Visakhapatnam. Many people paid tributes to him. On Saturday Visakhapatnam Urban Development Authority (VUDA) has identified the day as 98 death anniversary of Mahakavi Gurajada Appa Rao.
VUDA Vice Chairman N. Yuvaraj along with other officials festooned the statue of the Mahakavi at Gurajada Kalakshetram and paid well-off tributes to him on this occasion. The Vice Chairman said that the writings and initiatives of Gurajada have become torchbearers to the Telugu people and his contribution towards identifying the colloquial language was enormous. On this occasion he reminded of Gurajada’s renowned book Kanyasulkam, which was written in the backdrop of the prevailing social stigma of that time.
Of the many people who paid tributes to Gurajada, the prominent personalities are: VUDA Secretary GC Kishore Kumar, Chief Engineer I. Viswanatha Rao, Chief Accounts Officer D. Vijaya Bharathi, Chief Urban Planner R.J. Vidyullatha, Estate Office B. Bhavani Das, in charge DFO V. Bhavani Shankar and Manager Subhadra Devi.
