Rajahmundry: Corruption could not be curtailed in the country unless there was change in the mindset of people, senior IPS officer V.V. Lakshminarayana said here on Sunday. He observed that the mindset of the people was the root-cause for corruption, irregularities and atrocities against women.
Speaking to reporters, Lakshminarayana said that people generally think money was everything. “If that perception could be changed, it would not be difficult to eradicate corruption in the country,” he added. Lamenting that good things were not getting adequate publicity, he warned that undue publicity in the media being given to the crimes and atrocities might result in more crimes. Answering to a question, he said that corruption could be controlled by lessening the gap between rich and poor.
Referring to the growing atrocities in the country where woman were termed as goddesses, he said the atrocities were probably the result of influence of western culture. “The writer who writes vulgar songs taking Rs 2 lakh as remuneration, producers and directors who make films with vulgar scenes investing crore of rupees are also really corrupt,” he pointed out.
