Hyderabad: Ridiculing TDP President N Chandrababu Naidu for his remarks on Krishna Water utilisation, YSR Congress Party on Sunday said that it was the TDP leader who was responsible for the underutilisation of the surplus waters as he did not build a single project during his term.
Addressing the press here, party spokesperson G Ramchandra Rao said, “Nadiu, who made a mockery of agriculture and farmers, failed to construct a single project on Krishna River and was a mute spectator to the construction of projects took up on war footing by the upper riparian states.
By the time he awoke, 75 per cent of work was completed and as per the Bachawat Tribunal water should be allocated to such projects after the lapse of time of the Award.” Demanding that Naidu should take blame for the Brijesh Kumar Tribunal verdict, he said that the TDP leader had no right to speak on the subject as he was the prime culprit.
During the nine years as Chief Minister he allowed Maharashtra to draw 700 tmcft of water against its share of 560 tmcft, while Karnataka utilised 800-1,000 tmcft in place of 700 tmcft and dams were built illegally and heights of dams were increased to the existing ones.
