It’s not possible, says Jaipal

Hyderabad: Union Minister S Jaipal Reddy late on Monday night said that he was not “comfortable” with the proposal of merging Anantapur and Kurnool districts with Telangana to create Rayala Telangana. Speaking to media in New Delhi, he said the proposal was not there in the CWC resolution and it was not proper to bring it up at this stage. “Any such proposal would hurt the sentiments of the people of Telangana. The process is in final stage and it is not proper to introduce any new element into it,” he said.

He said he was of the view that it was not possible to create Rayala Telangana now. Historically, Telangana consisted of 10 districts before it was merged with Andhra Pradesh and that should not be disturbed.

The people of Rayalaseema need not worry in regard to sharing of water since a tribunal would be formed to address the problem. This need not be basis for Rayala Telangana. No injustice would be done to them. The resolution adopted by CWC on July 30 should be yardstick to form Telangana state. “I will try to convince the Congress party on this issue. Bringing up such a proposal at this stage is not politically desirable, “he said.
