Holds protest at Pulichintala

Pulichintala(Guntur): The YSR Congress honorary president, Y S Vijayamma, launched a scathing attack against Telugu Desam chief N Chandrababu Naidu and blamed him for the water problems besetting the State.

She alleged that Naidu had neglected the irrigation sector and had failed to utilise surplus water from Krishna River, which had led to the adverse allocation of water by the Brijesh Tribunal.

Addressing farmers and party workers during her protest at the Pulichintala Project site here on Wednesday, Vijayamma said that Chandrababu Naidu did not construct even a single project on Krishna River. On the contrary, he remained silent when Karnataka started to increase the height at Almatti, she alleged.

She said that Dr Y S Rajasekhar Reddy had started Jalayagnam to construct irrigation projects for utilization of the Krishna river water. The Pulichintala Project was one of the dreams of Dr Reddy, she pointed out. She recalled that N T Rama Rao had laid the foundation stone for Pulichintala project. However, Chandrababu Naidu never cared to complete the project during his nine years in office.

Vijayamma said that the project took the shape with Dr Rajasekhar Reddy laying foundation stone and subsequently starting the work.

She also took a dig at the Congress government in the State for neglecting irrigation projects after the death of Dr Reddy.

She felt that Brijesh Kumar Tribunal would have considered the water allocation for the State had the projects been completed as per the schedule fixed by Dr Rajasekhar Reddy.

She asked the farmers to understand the anti-farmers policies of Chandrababu Naidu and the Congress leadership.

Vijayamma also referred to the State division proposal being pursued by the Congress leadership in Delhi. She wondered how the leaders were treating the Telugu people who were opposing division of the State.

“We have been fighting against division and asking the government not to divide us. Instead of honouring our demand, they have proposed to divide even Rayalaseema now to create Rayala Telangana,” she lamented while wondering who had given powers to the Congress leadership to divide the people and serve their vested interests.

Senior party leader Ambati Rambabu criticized the Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy for proposing to inaugurate Pulichintala project without completing it. He said that the Chief Minister and his Congress leaders were worried about the increasing popularity for Y S Jaganmohan Reddy. They were expediting major projects without completing them only to counter the rising threat from YSR Congress Party. He predicted that Jaganmohan Reddy would complete the project when he becomes the next Chief Minister of the State after the elections.
