Hyderabad: TRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao, TJAC chairman Prof Kodandaram and other key leaders have decided to meet UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh when Telangana Bill would come up for discussion in Winter Session of the parliament. In the period, they want to bring to the notice of the Congress high command about reservations and objections of Telangana people on a few issues included in the draft note.
This decision was taken at TJAC leaders meeting with TRS chief at the latter’s residence in Banjara Hills on Saturday. Also the JAC resolved to hold an extended steering committee meeting in the next few days to debate at length about the recommendations of the Union Cabinet.
Although the Draft Bill was in line with aspirations of Telangana public, recommendations on distribution of employees, water, electricity and assets were not in favour of the region, the meeting felt. Commenting on Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy’s anti-Telangana speech during the inauguration of Pulichintala project, Rao, it is learnt, pointed out that Seemandhra lobby would continue to create hurdles in Telangana process until the last moment.
He called upon TJAC and Telangana people to be alert until the Bill got the nod of both the houses of parliament. Rao, it is learnt, had also sought TJAC’s opinion about the stand to be adopted by TRS party in next general elections. To this, JAC members replied that it was better for pro-Telangana party to go alone in order to fulfill vision and goals set for the new Telangana state.
Entering into alliance with other party, which might not have same level commitment, might hamper the reconstruction and development of the new state, they felt. TRS supremo is understood to have told them that the mood of the public was in favor of the ‘udyama party’. He said that he would consult all stakeholders before arriving at a final decision.
