Hyderabad: Critical of the government policy on electricity, CPI state secretary K Narayana on Sunday noted that this was only helping ‘current mafia’ rather than general public.
Speaking at a convention on ‘Reasons for Price Rise – steps to curb’ organised by the party, he lashed out at the government for completely putting onus of hike in electricity charges on Regulartory Commission and officials.
He alleged that officials were directed by the leaders who were in power to adopt a particular policy, which would benefit a few at the cost of crores of population. “The same official, who held that it was not possible to provide free electricity during Chandra Babu’s reign, drafted plan of free electricity during YSR’s period,” he noted. Narayana pointed out that seeking Rs 6 crore from government without even producing any electricity only reflects fragile policy of government. K Nageshwar, MLC, lamented that prices of luxury items were diminishing, but of the essentials were skyrocketing.
