Hyderabad: Leaders of both the regions have started making a beeline to Rashtrapati Nilayam at Bollarum in Hyderabad to present their respective pleas - for and - to President Pranab Mukherjee.
The Congress leaders who met the President separately on Saturday were Ministers Kasu Venkata Krishna Reddy, N Raghuveera Reddy and Karimnagar MP Ponnam Prabakar.
Speaking to media, Krishna Reddy said that he told the President that 80 per cent of the people in the state were opposed to bifurcation and urged him to see that the state does not get divided.
Ponnam Prabhakar, the MP from Telangana, said that his meeting with the President was just a courtesy call and nothing more than that. He took strong objection to the decision of Seemandhra leaders including YSRCP to meet the President to urge him to stop the process of division of the state. “It is not fair on their part to indulge in such acts,” he said.
Meanwhile the Panchayatraj Minister K Jana Reddy called on Governor ESL Narasimhan at Raj Bhavan. He is learnt that he has asked the Governor to ensure that the T-Bill is sent back to the President, at the earliest, so as to facilitate the introduction of the same during the special session in parliament.
