Hyderabad: To denounce the Seemandhra leaders for not allowing debate on State Reorganisation Bill-2013 in the Assembly, the Telangana JAC has decided to organise a Maha Dharna on January 6 or 7 at Indira Park. They would be also urging the Centre to make amendments in the draft Bill to protect the rights of Telangana people.

Informing this at Group-1 Officers 2014-diary release function held here on Tuesday, T JAC chairman, Kodandaram pointed out that conspiracies of Seemandhra politicians to stall the process could not extend beyond January 23, which was the deadline set by the President.

He wondered whether Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy and Leader of Opposition Chandrababu Naidu valued Constitution at all. Actions of elected representatives from Seemandhra region were against the spirit of the Constitution, he said. Meanwhile, Congress MP Ponnam Prabhakar said that his party president Sonia Gandhi would not go back on her word on Telangana, whatsoever. Stalling proceedings of Assembly so as to not allow debate on draft Bill was nothing but an insult to democracy, he added. Telangana Group- I officers Association president Chandrasekhar Goud, general secretary Hanumanth Naik and members P Ravinder Kumar and others took part.

Focus is on controversial clauses in T Bill: KCR Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) chief K Chandrasekhar Rao said that he would thank Congress party for fulfilling the longstanding dream of the Telangana people at an appropriate after consulting all the stakeholders. TRS president’s fresh remarks assumed significance in the wake of comments made by Congress senior leader V Hanumantha Rao, who said that the former was not keeping his word on merger with Congress party after it conceded statehood status to Telangana. He said that contents of the draft Bill regarding employees, power and law and order were objectionable to Telangana community. How could Telangana government honour power purchase agreements (PPAs) that stand to benefit private players like Lagadapati Rajagopal’s Lanco and others for 20 years?

The power produced in Telangana region at a cheaper cost of Rs 2.4 per unit should be given to residuary State while the power produced in that region at Rs 11 per unit should be bought by Telangana government, according to the draft Bill, Rao pointed out.
