DGP Prasada Rao: Naxalism tarnished in stateThe Director General of Police, Prasada Rao on Tuesday said Naxalism tarnished in the state. He addressed the media on Tuesday and said the police department has arrested 163 Naxals, while 76 more Naxals have surrendered themselves. 531 cases have been registered to arrest 3,249 people involved in smuggling of red sandalwood, he added.
Further, he said 40,384 road accidents took place this year and said the accidents are at a raise by 6.45%. An amount of rupees 125 crore has been received towards the fine imposed by the traffic police, he said. He said the security has been beefed up in the state due to the ongoing agitations. As many as 95 companies’ Para Military and 35 companies of APSP forces have been involved in the security measures, he added.
