Hyderabad: Communist Party of India (CPI) State Secretary K Narayana on Thursday said that all the legislators should avail themselves the opportunity to discuss the T Bill in the State Assembly as the time was running out.

Speaking to media persons, he said that the political leaders, who were talking about voting and a resolution in the Assembly, clearly know that there was no provision to put the Bill to vote.

“Even if the Assembly fails to complete discussion on the Bill by January 23, nothing would happen as it would be deemed to have been discussed. Both the Houses will only lose an opportunity to express their opinion and point out if there are any flaws in the Bill,’’ he pointed out. Narayana also took strong objection to the manner in which Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy had changed the portfolio of Minister D Sridhar Babu and replaced S Sailajanath as the Minister for Legislative Affairs.

Asked if the CPI was contemplating to forge alliance with any party during the 2014 polls, he said the CPI would fight on its own. “However, a final decision on the issue will be taken by the party leadership at an appropriate time. In any case, there is no question of any tie-up with TDP as it is moving closer to a ‘communal’ party,’’ he made it clear.

Narayana welcomed the initiatives taken up by Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal after coming to power. When the AAP government was making efforts to supply free drinking water to entire Delhi, why the State government could not do the same, he asked. When one State government was promising to provide electricity at Rs 1.95 per unit (after 50 per cent reduction), why the State electricity authorities were charging Rs 4.60 per unit?
