JC revokes remark of Volvo bus for vote

Hyderabad: Senior Congress leader and former minister in the state cabinet, JC Diwakar Reddy on Thursday said that in order to draw the attention of the party high command to the need of united Andhra Pradesh only, he opted to contest the Rajaya Sabha polls from the state. Conversely, the AICC General Secretary in-charge of AP affairs Digvijay Singh said that the decision of Diwakar Reddy to contest in the Rajya Sabha polls was his personal affair.

Later, following the developments over the issue, MLAs like Mukku Ugranarasiha Reddy expressed displeasure at JC’s comments and wanted him to withdraw his comments of offering of Volvo bus for each vote he gets. The MLA warned that if JC fails to take back his comments, he too will withdraw his support to JC in Rajya Sabha polls.

When it was learnt by JC, he gave a clarification that his Volvo buses remark was an ad lib comment. He explained that when TRS MLA KTR remarked that whether MLAs who vote for JC will get Volvos for them. To this, JC only said “why not?” While maintain he had support from enough number of MLAs, JC apologized for his remark if it has hurt anyone.
