HC to TTD: Give info on VIP passes, Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam, TTD, Info on VIP Passes Tirumala. Interestingly, the honourable court inquired whether the petitioner was also one of the victims who faced the problems on the auspicious day.
Hyderabad: The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams has been directed to produce details of the number of VIP passes issued for darshan of Lord Venkateswara on the eve of Vaikunta Ekadasi on January 11 by a division bench comprising Chief Justice Kalyan Jyoti Sengupta and Justice P.V. Sanjay Kumar of the AP High Court.
On Monday, issuing the order to this effect, the Bench has also directed the TTD to place the decree regarding issue of passes to VIPs for break darshan on important occasions before the court.
It is worth mentioning here that the Bench was dealing with a PIL filed by Telugu Desam Party leader, Talasani Srinivasa Yadav seeking a direction to order a probe into the incidents at Tirumala on January 11, on the eve of Vaikunta Ekadasi. In his PIL, Talasani alleged that TTD authorities had failed to provide bare minimum amenities to the ordinary devotees. Further, he alleged that the management was busy attending to VIPs who had already occupied the prime area of the temple much before darshan time. Talasani also alleged that TTD had extended break darshan to persons who were not VIPs.
Interestingly, the honourable court inquired whether the petitioner was also one of the victims who faced the problems on the auspicious day. When the petitioner’s counsel replied negative for the court’s inquiry, the Bench asked how Talasani could then move court. In its reply, the counsel maintained that the petitioner was a former minister in the state government and his relatives, who were at Tirumala on Vaikunta Ekadasi, had faced relentless hardships on the day of happening.
Following the arguments, the Bench said that it would hear the case only if the petitioner agreed to publish in three leading newspapers, at his own cost, an advertisement inviting the victims to join the case as parties. In turn, the petitioner agreed for the same and the Bench directed the TTD to place records before the court as scheduled.
The petitioner was asked by the Bench to deposit the cost of the advertisements to the honourable court and also asked to name the publications that could reach the devotees in Karnataka, TN and AP as most pilgrims were from these states on that day. The case has been adjourned for three weeks.
