KCR enlists support of Lalu, Paswan, K Chandrasekhar Rao, Sharad Yadav, Lalu Prasad Yadav. RJD leader Lalu Yadav said that Rao was an old friend and he had been fighting for Telangana for a long time.

New Delhi: Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) supremo K Chandrasekhar Rao on Sunday met national political parties leaders like Sharad Yadav of the Janata Dal-United (JD-U), Lalu Prasad Yadav of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and Ram Vilas Paswan of the Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) to enlist their support for the Telangana Bill, which will be taken up for voting and passing in the upcoming Parliament Session from February 5 to 21.

Rao sought to impress upon these leaders on the need to push through the Telangana Bill in the upcoming Parliament Session, as it would be the last one before the Lok Sabha polls.

RJD leader Lalu Yadav said that Rao was an old friend and he had been fighting for Telangana for a long time. He said Rao supported the Congress and was part of the Congress-led UPA Government, but when the Telangana was not implemented, he resigned from the Union Cabinet. Now the decision had been taken on the formation of Telangana. “I support Telangana and I appeal to the Central government and to Congress President Sonia Gandhi to implement the decision on Telangana,” Yadav said.

Paswan recalled how Rao had been fighting for Telangana for a very long time. He recalled that he had extended his support to the TRS cause and even took part in a rally organised at the Parade Grounds in Secunderabad.

Paswan pointed out that originally there were 14 States, which had doubled and now there were 28 States. “Telangana, as the 29th State, is yet to be formalized. Time has come and now the Telangana Bill should be passed in the upcoming Parliament Session to make it a reality,” he added.
