Khammam: Maoists set fire to the generator and instruments of a cell tower belonging to a private agency at Arlagudem village in Dummugudem mandal of the district on the midnight of Saturday. They were protesting against police atrocities on innocent people belonging to the tribal community and also demanding lifting of the bindover cases against them. They left pamphlets in the area listing out their demands.
The security staff who noticed the flames late in the night, alerted the fire personnel immediately. Fire engines arrived and put out the flames.
