Hyderabad: The extended executive meeting of the state unit of the CPI on Monday demanded that the government take up the case of striking municipal employees immediately for the sake of public hygiene.

The meeting which was attended by the national general secretary, Suravaram Sudhakar Reddy, asked the government to implement the agreement reached out with municipal employees in October last year.

The meeting resolved to extend support to the planned stir of CITU on March 5, which demands implementation of minimum wage norm and employee regularisation. It demanded that Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy notify Group 1 and Group 2 services. The party executive has decided to go ahead with the plan to lay siege to district Collectorates of Nalgonda, Mahabubnagar, Prakasam, Nellore, Chittoor, Kadapa, Anantapuram and Kurnool between February 17 and 19.
