TRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao Having Second Thoughts On Merger, TDP, Congress, TelanganaHyderabad: Giving credence to speculation that TRS is drifting away from the Congress and that there would be no merger, TRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao on Friday called upon the cadres to get ready for another round of movement for reconstruction of Telangana. He said that only a strong leadership would ensure attainment of all goals and aspirations of people here.

Addressing party workers at a function where TDP MLAs Mahender Reddy, K S Ratnam and MLC Narender Reddy joined the pink party, KCR stated that he would address housing needs of poor, offer free quality education to everyone, hike pensions of handicapped to Rs 1,500 per month and Rs 1,000 for widows. He said that reservations for STs would be increased to 12 per cent in the new State. The special component for SCs would be increased to Rs 10,000 crore per year, which means each of the 10 districts would get Rs 1,000 crore each.

He stated that the TRS has a clear roadmap to develop the region. In next two years time, they will ensure that the new State generates 12,000 MW of power so that it can become a surplus state. He also promised that the State would have 24 districts and each district would have NIMS type of hospital. All this would be possible when the State would have an effective leadership.

Once it was in place, he said a “Golden Telangana” can be created within seven years. Rao sought to know from the party activists if he should merge the party with Congress. In a unified voice, they yelled a ‘big no’. He then said that he was getting such requests even from outside. He said the party politburo which is scheduled to be held on March 3 will discuss the issue and take a final decision. Venting his anger against Union Minister Jairam Ramesh KCR said it appears that Congress has different plans.

It is strange for a person (referring to Ramesh) who did not win even a sarpanch election in his political career to make comments against TRS and me, he said. The TRS chief appealed to Telugu Desam leaders and activists to think about their future in an ‘Andhra party.’ Naidu made vain attempts in New Delhi to stall T process which was endorsed by BJP senior leaders from the State as well, he added.Report: P8
