Telugu actors up glamour quotient in AP politics

Hyderabad: Mahesh Babu is the latest film star being wooed to canvass for TDP in the ensuing general elections, in view of the stiff competition among the parties involved. The role of film heroes and heroines to sway the masses becomes all the more important in view of the parties’ desperation to win the crucial poll.

Mahesh Babu, like industry colleagues like K Chiranjeevi, Vijayashanti, Balakrishna, NTR Jr., Kalyanram, Taraka Ratna, M Murali Mohan, Kavita, Babu Mohan, Venu Madhav, Vijay Chander, Roja, besides Pawan Kalyan, is going to get busy with the poll campaign.

Mahesh is to take up campaign for the new TDP entrant Galla Arunkumari, a minister in N Kiran Kumar Reddy Cabinet, and her son Jayadev, who will be in fray for the Guntur Lok Sabha seat. Jayadev is his brother-in-law. The film stars are following the proven trend set by charismatic NTR.

The Congress enjoys the advantage of the Chiranjeevi-Vijayashanti- Jayasudha combination. The TDP will bank on the crowd pulling abilities of Nandamuri Balakrishna, NTR Jr, Kavita, Babu Mohan and Venu Madhav, along several others. The YSRCP has only Roja in its wings while BJP can rely upon rebel star and former Union minister U V Krishnam Raju ap[art from Rajshekar and Jeevita. If indeed Chiranjeevi’s younger brother Pawan Kalyan floats a political outfit, as is being speculated, he will add colour to the poll campaign trail.
