Governor ESL Narasimhan Clears Division of Legislature BuildingsHyderabad: Notification for dividing the buildings of legislature and residential quarters of MLAs, MLCs and ministers, as part of executing AP Reorganisation Act, would be issued on Monday. Governor ESL Narasimhan has given his assent to the blueprint submitted by the legislature secretariat. The present AP Legislative Council building would go to Andhra Pradesh. Likewise, the Jubilee Hall would be made the Council building for Telangana and the present Assembly building, which was built in 1985 and inaugurated by the then Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, would also be given to Telangana.

The committee looking after the allocation of Assembly and Council buildings of both the States submitted a report a month ago on the sharing of the buildings by two States --Telangana and the residuary Andhra Pradesh. The residential quarters of legislators would also be divided between the two States. As per the details, there are 112 quarters in two blocks at Old MLA quarters and one each would be given to Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. There are 145 quarters at Adarshnagar and they would also be divided between the two States as per the ratio of MLAs and MLCs. Apart from these quarters, there were 25 quarters in Punjagutta and 18 in Erramanzil colonies and the Punjagutta ones would go to Andhra Pradesh and the Erramanzil ones to Telangana. The available quarters were not sufficient to the 294 MLAs and 90 MLCs and a new project to provide another 120 quarters to the legislators is under construction.
