Hyderabad: Telangana Congress leaders while admitting that TRS enjoys huge support in the region are not willing to openly accept that it would come to power. The party leaders who met in the house of K Jana Reddy on Sunday said, though TRS was enjoying people’s support, weak cadre and network in districts could spell its doom.

Jana exuded confidence that the Congress would win 55 seats and form government. Referring to former MP Lagadapati Rajagopal’s survey, he said it could not be considered authentic. He claimed that in Nalgonda district the party would win 10 of the 12 Assembly seats. He refuted reports that some senior leaders, including himself, were lobbying for the chief minister’s post. The CM would be decided by the high command after taking views of the Congress Legislature Party (CLP). A senior leader R Damodar Reddy said Jana Reddy had qualities to lead the party after the State formation in June. Former PCC president D Srinivas told the media that cross-voting had taken place on April 30, but declined to elaborate.

He claimed that he was not in the race for CM’s post. DS said UPA would retain power at the Centre. The party would come to power in Telangana. Former chief whip G Venkataramana Reddy recently said the party failed to effectively communicate with people and take the credit for making Telangana reality.

He blamed lack of leadership for it. TPCC president Ponnala Laxmaiah observed that perhaps Reddy might have failed to communicate with his constituents, but as a party they had done well.
