The bitterness that existed during the time of agitation seems to be continuing even as the mammoth task of dividing assets, liabilities and employees is underway. Meanwhile, Governor ESL Narsimhan has gone to New Delhi and met Prime Minister Narendra Modi to discuss about the measures to be taken for smooth transition. Narsimhan later called on President Pranab Mukherjee to review the progress of the arrangements for the division of the state.

Faced with several problems the state of Andhra Pradesh will have to face after June 2, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister-designate N Chandrababu Naidu held series of meetings with the Prime Minister, the Finance Minister, the Minister for Irrigation and members of the Planning Commission, among others, to seek liberal help once the truncated state comes into existence. On the other hand,Vice-President and Rajya Sabha Chairman Mohammad Hamid Ansari allotted members of the Rajya Sabha belonging to the undivided State of Andhra Pradesh to Telangana and the residuary State of Andhra Pradesh.

In all there are 18 MPs, with one vacancy of the late N Janardhan Reddy. Of these, 11 are allotted to Andhra Pradesh and 7 are allotted to Telangana. In the process, four members belonging to Telangana have been allotted to Andhra Pradesh. Meanwhile, hectic arrangements are being made for the celebration of the formation day of Telangana at Parade Grounds. The police held rehearsals for the ceremonial parade. All district collectors have been asked to make necessary preparations for official celebrations across the 10 districts of Telangana. Literary personalities and people from cultural fields will be honoured by the government. The GHMC too had completed the process of division of buildings. Of the 30 minister’s quarters, 15 have been allotted to the Telangana government and 15 to Andhra Pradesh. Similarly, the MLA Quarters have also been divided. The Kamalanathan Committee to make provisional allotment of employees met on Saturday and is in the process of giving final touches to provisional allotment of the employees. Since the zero week is in vogue, all registrations have come to a standstill and all activities on the Transport website have been suspended.
