The issue of the location of the new capital city also figured during his meeting in New Delhi and it was followed by further discussions between him and union minister for Urban Development M Venkaiah Naidu. Venkaiah Naidu, who arrived in Hyderabad on Saturday morning by a special flight from Tirupati, had preliminary talks with Chandrababu Naidu. However, when asked by the media, Venkaiah refused to divulge the place but dropped enough hints that it would be near Vijayawada. When reporters persisted, he said, “"How can I decide the new capital of Seemandhra? It would be decided by the CM-designate of residual AP, N Chandrababu Naidu".

He said he was of the opinion that the new capital should not be as big as Hyderabad. In the case of Hyderabad all development was concentrated at one place. At the same time the new capital should not be located at a place where there is no basic infrastructure. “It should be a medium sized city,” he said.

Meanwhile, Chandrababu Naidu said that he had impressed upon the Centre over the need to give additional allocation of power for the residuary state since there was serious imbalance in the consumption and generation of power between Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. Both the states would be facing the power problems after June 2. The new state of Andhra Pradesh will get only a 46.11% share of the total power of united Andhra Pradesh, while Telangana will get the lion's share of 53.89% from June 2, 2014, as per the GO Number 20. He said the Centre had assured him of good support. Even in regard to the revenue deficit, he said the Centre would sympathetically examine the problems.
