Officials monitor arrangements

• Work on two helipads completed
• Rain-proof tents to accommodate 30,000

Vijayawada: Three senior IAS officers have been deployed to monitor the arrangements for the swearing-in ceremony of Chandrababu Naidu as Chief Minister on June 8 at the sprawling 70-acre ground opposite Acharya Nagarjuna University. The senior officers, Naveen Mittal, B Syambob and Kona Sasidhar, are currently camping in Guntur district monitoring the arrangements at the venue. While Mittal had arrived here a couple of days ago, Syambob and Sasidhar have arrived on Thursday. The officials of revenue, police, Panchayat Raj, Roads and Buildings are racing against time to complete the arrangements at the venue. A number of senior Telugu Desam leaders are also currently camping in Vijayawada and Guntur to help the administration on making the arrangements.

The formation of a black top road from the National Highway to the dais on the ground is getting ready. The Roads and Buildings department took up this small road leading to the railway station and a missionary school for the travel of the VIPs to the dais. Work on two helipads, too, is completed behind the dais for the convenience of the VIPs. Two more helipads would come up on the ANU campus and the Hai Land entertainment park near Mangalagiri.

The officials are making arrangements for the seating of over 30,000 VIPs under rain-proof tents, besides providing drinking water and butter milk packets for the visitors. The officials have also marked the parking slots close to the venue for the vehicles carrying the TD cadre. However, the VIP vehicles would be parked on both sides of the venue.
