Addressing the media soon after assuming office, he said the TRS had promised to maintain law and order and prevent atrocities against women. “The government will constitute a Special Court to try cases of violence against women. We will not tolerate atrocities against them at any cost. All measures will be taken to see that the brand image of Hyderabad city gets a boost and is taken to new high so that it can attract investments,” he stated.

The Home Minister assured that there would not be any compromise on the issue of maintaining law and order and the communal fabric of the city would be well protected. “The government will pass a resolution in the State Assembly to drop all the cases which were slapped against the agitators during the Telangana statehood movement,” Narsimha Reddy announced.

Reforms would be brought in crowd management and measures would be taken to see that there would not be any incidents of lathicharge or police firing on those who resort to peaceful demonstrations, he added.

Replying to a question, the Home Minister said, “I do not foresee any possibility of spurt in naxal problem in the new State. The government will address the issues for which the naxals have been fighting and thus they will not get an opportunity to create any trouble.” However, he was non-committal on the question of calling the naxals for talks. On the security arrangements in the city, he said, “Soon Hyderabad will witness the kind of policing that is seen in London, where the entire city is covered with CCTV cameras.” He also stressed the need for making police force people-friendly.
