Hyderabad: Even before getting any indication from the Andhra Pradesh state government on filling up nominated posts, the competition for the post of the chairman of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams Trust Board, which administers the richest temple in the country, has already begun within the Telugu Desam Party.

Sambasiva Rao had openly aired his views and said that getting nominated to the TTD chairman’s post was a life-time ambition. From the other end, the race within the Brahmin community to whom the Chief Minister had promised a berth in the TTD Trust Board has also picked up steam with several names doing the rounds in TTD circles.

After the suspense over the ministries in the state cabinet, now it’s time for the portfolio of the Tirumala Tirupathi Devsthanam’s Chairman, which has been most conjectured issue in the news. For the TTD chairman post, reportedly Rayapati Samba Siva Rao, the Narasaraopet MP, JC Diwakar Reddy, the Anantapur MP, Chadalavada Krishnamurthy, a former MLA, and Gali Muddukrishnama Naidu, a senior TDP leader, are in the race. According to sources, before Rayapati was invited to join the TDP, he was promised to be given ministry in the centre, if won, else TTD chairman’s post if lost in the polls.

In a similar vein, it is learnt that JC Diwakar Reddy was also reportedly allured. Rayapati has strived hard to get the TTD Chairman’s post for many times in the past. Also, he has not been offered ministry in the Union Cabinet as promised before elections. So, reportedly, the supporters of Rayapati have been demanding Naidu to give him the post of TTD Chairman. Same is the case from JC’s end.

From the other end, Chadalavada and Gali who lost the polls have also been the contenders of the post, if they could not be given MLCs. All these four candidates, reportedly, have equal chances of getting and equal chances of losing the TTD chairman’s post. Who will be the ultimate winner is a matter of concern for many. It’s only Chandrababu Naidu, the TDP supremo who knows who would get what. Till then it’s a mere suspense to all.

Meanwhile, the race for the board member posts has also intensified. Besides ex-officio members and the MLA quota under which three MLAs can be nominated to the TTD Trust Board, another eight to nine more members from various backgrounds can be nominated by the government.
