On Monday, the Reliance group chairman Anil Ambani called on AP Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao here separately.

According to sources, during the meeting both Naidu and KCR urged Anil Ambani to set up industries in their respective States in power, infrastructure and other key sectors.

According to sources, Naidu assured the Association of Power Producers of solving the protracted gas shortage to generate power and also other issues related to taxation with the intervention of the Union government.

The delegation, led by Association president Ashok Khurana, Reliance ADAG Chairman Anil Ambani, GV Sanjay Reddy from GVK, Lanco Chairman L Madhusudhan Rao and GMR Group Manager GBS Rao raised the issue of urgent need of gas supply to gas-based plants with a capacity of 2,233 MW.

The Association urged Naidu to use his good offices and promote LNG terminals at Gangavaram and Kakinada ports, reduce VAT on gas by 2 per cent and also interact with Centre and Gujarat to get additional gas to be made available from new ONGC/GSPC fields to state power projects on priority basis.

Principal Secretary to CMO Ajay Shawney, state Principal Secretary (Energy) Ajay Jain and other officials were also present in the meeting. Later during his meeting with KCR, Anil Ambani is said to have expressed his desire to invest in infrastructure and electricity sectors in Telangana as well. He, however, told KCR that he would visit the two States once the industrial policy of respective governments was announced. KCR is learnt to have assured the Reliance group chairman of hassle-free package of permissions and facilities for the company to set up industries.
