Hyderabad: The Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday said his government had a herculean task ahead to put the State economy back on track. The government just has Rs 5.791 crore in its kitty and slew of promises to be implemented. Releasing the white paper, second in the series, at Lake View Guest House, Naidu said the improper manner in which the bifurcation was done and the flawed and short-sighted policies of the Congress government, which was at helm of affairs during the last decade, had left the State coffers empty.

Exuding confidence that he would rebuild AP from the scratch and make it a prosperous one in the country very soon, Naidu said the government was in the process of preparing a blue print to put the State economy back on track and implement all the electoral promises it had made before elections including the loan waiver scheme.
He also assured the people of the State that the budget that would be presented soon will not have any new taxes. "We don't want to burden people with fresh taxes," he said.

He also announced that 24 hour power supply to domestic and industrial sectors and seven hour power to agriculture would be provided from October 2, on the eve of Mahatma Gandhi birth anniversary.

Stating that the major challenge before him was to overcome the financial crisis and streamline the fiscal reforms, he said the State moved on a path of growth between 1996 to 2007 by registering double digit GSDP above the national average. The per capita income had also increased considerably during that period.
