CM says top priority to pending projects, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and Union Minister for Urban Development and Parliamentary Affairs M Venkaiah Naidu on Saturday pledged to ensure all-round development of Nellore district by expediting the long-term pending projects.

Nellore: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and Union Minister for Urban Development and Parliamentary Affairs M Venkaiah Naidu on Saturday pledged to ensure all-round development of Nellore district by expediting the long-term pending projects.
The two leaders expressed their resolve to complete the Polavaram project in three years. They were addressing a public meeting after inaugurating A C Subba Reddy Medical College here.
The CM said the college became a possibility because of the NDA government in Delhi. He said the government would work with commitment to take up construction of an airport between Kavali and Nellore. He praised Venkaiah Naidu for his “stellar role in protecting the AP interests following the State’s bifurcation.” The minister’s intervention was instrumental in the State getting 950 medical seats.
The CM reiterated that the government would not go back on the TDP election promises although the State was facing problems. He assured to back fishermen in their endeavour for rights in the Pulikat Lake. Naidu said the district’s development could be expedited through the Krishnapatnam Port.
Chandrababu Naidu promised an underground drainage system in Nellore, development of Somasila reservoir, along with Somasila and Swarnamukhi Link Canals, modernisation of the delta and construction of a harbour at Javvadinne. The government, he said, was preparing to distribute Rs 1,000 old-age pensions from October 2.
Venkaiah Naidu observed that the State’s development would be expedited with the Polavaram project, which was planned with the people’s long-term benefits in view. “Justice has been done to the State with the project,” he said. Ministers Kamineni Srinivas Rao and also Narayana spoke at the meeting.
