Srisailam: Following heavy rains in Karnataka and Maharashtra, the Srisailam reservoir received inflows of 1.24 lakh cusecs on Friday. Its level reached 838.40 ft (59.5145 tmcft) as against the full reservoir level of 885 ft.

As many as 124,259 cusecs from the Jurala project reached the Srisailam reservoir. Power is being produced in the right and left Srisailam generation units.The Irrigation department officials released 14,194 cusecs into Nagarjunasagar after 6.835 mu was generated during the last 24 hours.

Meanwhile, people in large numbers flocked to the Jurala project to see the swirling Krishna water flowing into the dam. On Friday evening, 1.4 lakh cusecs was released from the Narayanpur dam. The outflow from Jurala was 1.53 lakh cusecs, after the Irrigation officials lifted 28 of the 64 gates. Its level in the evening was 318.15 ft, as against the full reservoir level of 318.50 ft. Power is being generated by six units.

Telugu Desam and Congress MLAs on Friday visited the lower Jurala hydel power station which was damaged as heavy inflows from upstream reached the reservoir. AP Genco officials said repair work would not be taken up unless the water level fell.
