Sujana Chowdary takes up TV9, ABN Andhra Jyothy ban in RS

Sujana Chowdary, a Telugu Desam Party member of Rajya Sabha, on Friday raised the issue of the ban of two Telugu TV channels TV9 and ABN Andhra Jyothy in Telangana state. He presented the issue of the ban of the said television channels in the milieu of article 19(1).

He wondered how the MSOs could take a decision of banning the Television channels of their own which otherwise needs an enforcement of a specific law. Sujana Chowdary said that the Telangana state assembly and council have decided to ban the mentioned two channels. While stating the media as the fourth estate of democracy, Sujana Chowdary said that there was a need to protect the rights of the media.
