Hyderabad: Thirty two hours after the cyclone ‘Hudhud’ ravaged the tracks between Elamanchili-Narsingapalli-Bayyavaram stations, causing breaches to tracks in several locations, the South Central Railway (SCR) started train services on Tuesday on Visakhapatnam-Vijayawada-Rajahmundry-Visakhapatnam section of Vijayawada division of SCR. The railway track line towards Visakhapatnam has been made fit for traffic and the trains will be operated through this single line. Train No18520 Lokamanya Tilak to Visakhapatnam passed through the restored line at 03:45 pm on Tuesday. P K Srivastava, GM, SCR monitored the rescue/restoration teams. The SCR administration swung into action to restore the railway track by deploying men and material on a massive scale. Earth Moving Equipment and track material was moved to the locations.

As many as 10 heavy duty JCBs, 10 track material trains with 180 loaded wagons consisting of sand bags, boulders, quarry dust, girders and cribs and around 600 labour force have been involved in the restoration work. Diesel generator sets were deployed in a big way and special lighting arrangements made at the track breach locations.
