The Andhra Pradesh government has issued a GO to provide appropriate gratuitous relief to families affected by the heavy gale and nonstop torrential downpour.

Hyderabad: The Andhra Pradesh government has issued a GO to provide appropriate gratuitous relief to families affected by the heavy gale and nonstop torrential downpour, for over two days following the severe cyclonic storm Hudhud which had devastated normal life in Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram and Srikakulam districts, and caused extensive damage in few other districts. Modifying its earlier orders, the government, on Saturday, has further categorised the villages as severely-affected and partially-affected villages. The revised scale of the gratuitous relief and assistance to the category of severely-affected villages and municipalities like Paderu, Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation and the like would be provided from October 17, 2014. Similarly, the government has also enhanced compensation to Rs 5 lakh in case of deceased persons and scaled up the compensation to those who were disabled and those who had met with grievous injuries. Likewise, the input subsidy to agricultural crops, horticulture orchids and gardens has also enhanced by the government.
