Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu is understood to have made up his mind to use popular Chicago architecture for the new capital. Most of the popular buildings of the American city are likely to be replicated in the city along the river Krishna. The Chief Minister will soon send some experts to study the popular buildings of Chicago. The team is also expected to hold consultations with leading architects.

The structures in Chicago are famous world over and the architecture is popularly referred to as Chicago School. Right from commercial buildings to residential complexes, the Chicago technology is special and considered as the best in the world. The structures, right from the foundation to the terrace, are minutely planned and designed by the architects for both beauty and strength.

Apparently the Chief Minister has decided to replicate the same technology and architecture for the new capital. The government has already decided to locate the capital between Amaravathi and Mangalagiri in Guntur and Chevitikallu and Bhavanipuram in Krishna district on both sides of the river. The skyscrapers on both sides of the rivers, each housing one office or the other, would give the capital an international look. It is perhaps for this reason that the Chief Minister wants to acquire lands from the farmers despite suggestions to first utilise the land available to the government.

The government wants 30,000 acres of land for the capital in the first phase, in which this Chicago architecture would be replicated.

Important buildings such as the Assembly, Secretariat, High Court, the Chief Minister’s Office, the office of the Director General of Police, the offices of the heads of various departments and the residential quarters of the ministers, legislators, judicial officers and other secretariat staff would have the Chicago technology.

Interestingly, Telugu Desam leaders have been speaking time and again about the “river view capital” and skyscrapers. Some of the leaders claim that they have seen a blueprint of the capital and the proposed buildings including hanging bridges across the river in the office of Chandrababu Naidu. If they are to be believed, the river would have the world’s greatest, oldest and most popular architecture.
