Godavari Puraskar Awards 2014, Buddhavarapu Charitable Trust is going to honour five eminent personalities with Godavari Puraskar in connection with the traditional Godavari Harathi on the Karthik Pournami day i.e November 6th 2014 at Rajahmundry.
Buddhavarapu Charitable Trust is going to honour five eminent personalities with Godavari Puraskar in connection with the traditional Godavari Harathi on the Karthik Pournami day i.e November 6th 2014 at Rajahmundry.
Buddhavarapu Charitable Trust, known for various service activities such as supply of hygienic mid-day meal for school children in East Godavari district for the last seven years, is offering traditional Harathi to Godavari since 2010 amidst chanting of vedic hymns by vedic scholars, devotional prayers by lakhs of devotees and 5-hour long cultural fete in the Pushkar Ghat of Rajahmundry.
In tune with its ideals, the Trust has also instituted awards in memory of Late Sri. Sripada Subrahmanya Sastry (literature), Late Sri. Ravi Shankar Prasad (Journalism and human rights), Late Sir. Arthur Cotton (Irrigation & Agriclture), Late Sri. SV Ranga Rao (Drama, Films and Fine arts) and Late Sri. GMC Balayogi (Social Service).
Under the leadership of Sri K. Sri Ramachandra Murthy, Director (Editorials) Sakshi News, the Jury met here on November 2nd 2014 in the presence of Mr Buddhavarapu SN Kumar of the Trust, and have selected the following personalities for the prestigious Godavari Pushkar awards.
Sri Ravulapati Seeta Rama Rao, IPS (Retd.)
for Sripada Subramanya Sastry memorial award in Telugu literature for his four decade long literary contribution as short-story writer, novelist, feature writer and critic
Sri Mallepalli Laxmiah
for Ravi Shankar Prasad memorial award in the field of Journalism and Human Rights for his remarkable role as a committed professional for the last three decades in the field of journalism
Sri BVS Rama Rao Ex. Chief Engineer Irrigation Dept.
for Sir Arthur Cotton memorial award in the field of irrigation/agriculture for his pioneering contribution in irrigation sector as engineer, consultant and advisor while in service and after retirement. He has exposed the beauties of River Godavari, worldwide through films.
Sri Dr. Dasari Narayana Rao
for S.V. Rangarao memorial award in the field of drama, cinema fine arts for his matchless contribution to Telugu stage and cinema in the last five decades
Ms. Sunitha Krishnan
for Sri GMC Balayogi Award for social service for her 2-decade thankless service in protecting lives of AIDS-affected children and status of girl child.
The award comprises Rs.25,000/- in cash, citation and felicitation.
