Rajahmundry (East Godavari): Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu will take part in a programme arranged to mark World Disability Day in Rajahmundry on Wednesday.

The Department of Disabled Welfare was making elaborate arrangements at Cherukuri Kalyanamandapam here to make the function a success. The programme was aimed at highlighting the welfare schemes taken up by the government for the disabled.

Special exhibition with different stalls were also planned at the event. The chief minister’s interaction with disabled and signature campaign to extend moral support to the differently-able were also planned.

Principal Secretary Neelam Sahani, District Collector Neethu Prasad, Urban SP S Hari Krishna and Director of Disabled Welfare K Sarada Devi supervised the arrangements.

Distribution of tricycles, artificial limbs and hearing aids to 200 disabled persons (all worth Rs 12 lakh) would be distributed in this function.

Minister for Disabled Welfare P Sujatha and other ministers, MPs, MLAs will participate in this function.

Review on Godavari Pushkaram 2015
The Chief Minister will review arrangements for Godavari Pushkarams at R&B Guest House in Rajahmundry with the officials of East Godavari and West Godavari districts.

With only six months left for the Pushkarams, the State Government has initiated different works to meet the once-in-12 years event. The chief minister’s review of the works would help in expedite the arrangements for Pushkarams.


Endowments Minister Manikyala Rao and senior officials of various departments are expected to attend this review meeting. The CM would also visit Rail-cum-road -bridge, Havelock Bridge, some Godavari ghats relating to Pushkarams and the ongoing third bridge works during his visit to district on Wednesday.

Arrives in special aircraft
Chandrababu Naidu will arrive at Madhurapudi Airport in a special aircraft at 10.35 am. From there, he will arrive Cherukuri Kalyanamandapam at 11 am. There he will participate in the World Disability Day programme. After this function, the CM will arrive R&B Guest house and will review the Godavari Pushkaram works with officials from 2 pm to 3 pm.

Later, Chandrababu Naidu will visit some works in the Rajahmundry Municipal Corporation and leave for Madhurapudi airport to go to Gannavaram in Krishna district.
