Traffic regulations for Bhavani Deeksha Viramana

Vijayawada: As part of arrangements for the Bhavani Deeksha Viramana at Kanaka Durga temple atop Indrakeeladri, the police have taken several measures including traffic regulation and diversion at a number of places in the city to ensure smooth conduct of the annual event. Lakhs of devotees are expected to visit the Durga temple from December 12 to 16 to relinquish their deeksha.

In a press release here on Wednesday, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) T V Nagaraju said additional forces were deployed at the temple to step up security and prevent any untoward incident during the Deeksha Viramana.

Vehicular traffic coming from Chennai and Machilipatnam and moving towards Hyderabad will be diverted at Krishna Lanka Katta and routed via Police Control Room, Low Bridge, Kaleswara Rao Market, King Plaza, Chittinagar, Sitara Centre, Cheruvu Centre, Kummaripalem Centre and Gollapudi.

Traffic coming from Hyderabad will be diverted at Gollapudi via Sitara Junction, Kabela Centre, Milk Project, Chittinagar, Kedareswarapet, Sitannapet Gate, Sarada College Junction, Madhura Nagar Junction, Chuttugunta, Machavaram and Ramavarappadu Ring to touch the National Highway No 5. RTC buses will also be diverted at Gollapudi to reach Pandit Nehru Bus Station. RTC buses leaving the bus station will be diverted via Kaleswara Rao Market, Chittinagar tunnel, Sitara Centre and Gollapudi.

Vehicles coming from Eluru, Guntur and Machilipatnam can be parked at the place opposite Padmavathi Ghat near Pandit Nehru Bus Station or in the vacant site on the east side of Rajiv Gandhi Park, the Additional DCP said.
