Guntur: The police stepped up vigil on Tuesday by deploying personnel in large numbers in villages where some miscreants set fields, sheds and agriculture implements on fire on Monday. As many as 10 investigating teams were formed to interview eyewitnesses and farmers. Members of the teams are consisting of two ACPs, four Inspectors, six SIs and 30 constables who are working under the direction of Additional DGP, Vijayawada.

The police apart, intelligence wing, a dog squad team and others fanned into the villages to interview local farmers and elicit information. There are divergent versions regarding timing of the attack by unidentified miscreants. Meanwhile, YSRCP Rajadhani Rythu Parirakshana Samithi visited villages and interacted with farmers.

They assured farmers that the party would stand by them in the fight for justice. Those who visited the villages were Alla Ramakrishna Reddy, Pinnelli Ramakrishna Reddy, Gottipati Ravi, Uppuleti Kalpana and Nagi Reddy. They demanded that the government order judicial inquiry into the incident.
