Vijayawada upbeat on first R Day Parade
The full dress rehearsal for the Republic Day parade was held at Indira Gandhi Municipal Corporation (IGMC) Stadium on Saturday. This is Andhra Pradesh’s first Republic Day parade being held in Vijayawada after the bifurcation of the State. The IGMC stadium can accommodate about 30,000 people .

On Republic Day , Governor ESL Narasimhan would inspect the Guard of Honour between 7.30 am and 7.45 am and later give his message. He is likely to leave to Hyderabad from the venue at 9.05 am. Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu would unfurl the tricolour at 9.30 am. Tableaux highlighting the welfare schemes and development programmes of the State government would be displayed during the Republic Day parade.
A variety of cultural programmes would also be staged. Earlier, Chief Secretary IYR Krishna Rao and Director General of Police J V Ramudu explored the possibilities of holding the Republic Day celebrations at VR Siddhartha Engineering College at Kanuru, on the outskirts of the city.
